SAN ANTONIO - (November 13, 2011) - A heavy morning fog lifted into bright afternoon sunshine on Sunday as more than 30,000 entrants pushed through the miles at the 4th Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Multi-U.S. record holder and 2008 Olympic medalist Shalane Flanagan passed her first test in preparation for the upcoming U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials by handily winning the women's half-marathon in 1 hour, 10 minutes and 49 seconds, shattering the course record by more than a minute. At January's Olympic Trials in Houston, Flanagan, 30, hopes to make her third Olympic team.

"This is the first step toward my Olympic goal," said Flanagan, who recorded the third fastest half-marathon time of the year by an American woman. "The marathon is a daunting distance to prepare for, but I felt good and had fun out there. My goal was to run 72 minutes and I accomplished that."

Brooks New PureConnect Captures Runner's World Best Debut Award

Recently launched lightweight style honored, while new Adrenaline GTS 12 available now at retail

BOTHELL, Wash. - (Nov. 3, 2011) - Brooks PureConnect, the new, ultra-lightweight, flexible running shoe by Brooks Sports, was awarded "Best Debut" by the worldwide authority on running, Runner's World. In the magazine's December Winter Shoe Guide, the PureConnect is praised for its lightweight feel and snug fit.

"This new shoe strikes a balance between barefoot-inspired minimalism and cushioning-required training," stated the Runner's World review of the PureConnect. "It has a lightweight, barely there feel yet is substantive enough to handle long tempo runs."

One of four shoes in the Brooks PureProject collection, PureConnect puts as little as necessary between the runner and the ground. It features a fusion of lightweight materials and innovative technologies including an extended Toe Flex for incredible flexibility, a Nav Band for a close-to-the-foot fit, and an IDEAL Heel that aligns the runners center of gravity for optimal spring with every step. Now runners can connect with the ground and activate new muscles with every stride.

"We are so ecstatic to receive such great recognition for the PureConnect from Runner's World," said Andre Kriwet, global director of footwear product management for Brooks. "Runners were telling us that they craved a feel the road, hug the corners ride in a shoe that was ready for training right out of the box. This award from Runner's World and the amazing feedback we are receiving from runners, prove we delivered this with the PureProject collection."

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 12 was also reviewed by Runner's World. It was one of six stability shoes included in the Winter Shoe Guide and is the newest update of the brand's best seller. Featuring the same revered fit and feel as previous version, the Adrenaline GTS 12 now includes more mesh for breathability, a friction-resistance heel and a caterpillar crash pad that encompasses more strides.

One wear tester stated the shoe had "a very comfortable upper with great heel and forefoot cushioning," while another said, "It performed well on both the road and the track."

The Adrenaline GTS 12 is available now at retailers globally and on BrooksRunning.com. The Adrenaline GTS style is one of the best selling shoes for Brooks, evidenced by the Adrenaline GTS 11 experiencing a 25% global increase in units sold YTD.

The suggested retail price of the PureConnect and Adrenaline GTS 12 are $90 and $110, respectively. For more technical information about the PureConnect, Adrenaline GTS 12, and all Brooks performance running shoes, apparel and accessories, go to: BrooksRunning.com
