Kapalua Trail Runs Draw More Than 1,000 Runners

International field enjoys racing from the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, event precedes today's off-road triathlon world championship

KAPALUA, Maui, Hawaii – (October 26, 2013)  Familiarity was the key to success at the XTERRA Kapalua Trail Runs on Saturday morning.

Three of the four overall winners were repeat champions from last year: Willie Schefer (men’s 10K), Benjamin Auerbach (men’s 5K) and Dakota Grossman (women’s 5K). All three are Maui residents. The only new overall champ was Emilie Menuet from France, who was the top female in the 10K.

ATLANTA – (October 27, 2013) – Close to 3,000 runners and walkers participated in the Atlanta Marathon and 10-Miler, as well as the Atlanta Marathon 5K and Kids’ Fun Run Presented by American Family Insurance on Sunday, October 27. This year marked the 51st running of the Atlanta Marathon, and the inaugural running of the 10-Miler, 5K and Fun Run.

ST. LOUIS – (October 27, 2013) – As sunrise broke over the iconic Arch, 13,000 runners readied themselves for a chilly early morning journey through St. Louis. The Quinn Family Foundation Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Louis Marathon & ½ Marathon to benefit TASK returned for a third year with thousands decked out in red in celebration of their hometown Cardinals’ World Series bid.

HEALDSBURG, Calif. - (October 26, 2013) – Michael Nicks of Portland, Ore. and Sara Bei Hall (right) of Redding, Calif. won the 6th  Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon on Saturday, October 26. Produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, (www.destinationraces.com/runhb), the sold-out wine harvest and Halloween themed race hosted 2,500 runners from 47 states and 8 foreign countries. The 13.1-mile race ran through the beautiful Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys on a picture perfect day.

Bedada, Calway Win 38th Marine Corps Marathon

WASHINGTON, D.C. - (October 27, 2013) - An 11-member skydiving team carried a  7,800 square foot American flag high above the Start Line of the 38th Marine Corps Marathon. Shortly afterwards, a 105mm Howitzer M2A1 fired the celebratory salute to signify the beginning of the race and over 31,000 runners began their run.
